Our Commitment to Safety & Preparedness
At The Island Project, the safety of our pupils, staff, and visitors is our absolute priority. In line with the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law), we regularly review our security posture and emergency preparedness.
Even though our day-to-day capacity sits below the statutory requirements for the Standard Tier, we proactively adopt best practices to ensure we are ready for any emergency. We have implemented a robust "Guide, Shelter, Communicate" framework, which ensures that:
Our staff are regularly trained in emergency and lockdown procedures.
We have clear, effective communication channels to alert the school community in the event of an incident.
Any temporary public events, such a Summer Fayre (or similar event), are backed by robust risk assessments and all staff members in attendance are trained.
To maintain the integrity of our security protocols, our detailed emergency and evacuation plans remain confidential internal documents.
