Our Post 16 students added Photography to their curriculum this year. It’s been great to see each pupil step out of their comfort zone, and access their lessons with enthusiasm. Throughout the weeks, pupils have developed an understanding of aperture, composition, editing, exposure, lighting and shutter speed.
To celebrate their efforts, pupils were given the opportunity to further develop their visual communication skills by curating their very own exhibition. 'Four Sides of the Same Coin' is a story of perception, with the intention to champion difference. Every pupil accessed the same unit of teaching, where they explored some of the basics of photography, however no two photos were the same - and there is beauty in that.
Our pupils at The Island Project view the world in their own way, and they shouldn't be made to feel anything other than comfortable in doing so. 'Four Sides of the Same Coin' is our corner of the world where we can champion this, and celebrate the differences that make our pupils such a pleasure to work with.
